SISKIYOU COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — NOVEMBER 6, 2026. Yreka voters have given a preliminary Yes majority to Measure G, which would increase the city’s transient-occupancy tax for lodging guests. The Siskiyou County second election-night count, reported about 11:11 p.m. November 3, lists 943 Yes votes (57.05%) and 710 No (42.95%), a 233-vote reported advantage. The result has not been certified.
What the election concerns
The local ballot proposal would raise the hotel and short-stay tax rate from 10% to 12% beginning July 1, 2027. The city estimates about $245,000 in additional annual revenue for general municipal services. This is a prospective estimate, not money already collected. It applies to qualifying lodging rentals under the tax ordinance rather than ordinary long-term residential rent.
Other elections and the geographic boundary
Yreka voters also selected City Council representatives. California58’s existing Council story reports a 53-vote third-place margin from a separate contest. Those candidate totals are different from 1,653 Yes/No votes on Measure G. The county also voted on statewide propositions, which are not decided by city-only results.
Why the result matters locally
The city relies on public revenues to finance services, streets, tourism-related infrastructure and the operations of government. A general hotel-tax measure does not mean every dollar collected is guaranteed to one stated program; appropriations must still follow the city’s budget and legal rules. Residents should check the measure’s impartial analysis and official adoption conditions before assuming a new rate is in force.
When to expect official results
The Siskiyou News analysis published November 4 reports the county’s second election-night results update at approximately 11:11 p.m. November 3, including 11,250 ballots reported out of 27,706 registered voters and 62 of 62 precincts. That does not mean all lawful mail, provisional or other ballots have been counted. The Siskiyou County Elections Office is the official source for subsequent canvass figures. California counties finish their legal canvass before statewide certification in December. This story does not claim a new numerical county update on November 6.
